Safe Playtimes

Peer mediators and playtime buddies ensure all our learners work together in a safe secure environment. Zoning the playground has had a positive impact upon our playtimes and our self esteem. Money has been invested into delivering high quality training for all staff which has enhanced their confidence in delivering safe stimulating activities for all ages.
Although high level policing is not the answer to safer playtimes empowering our learners is. We. therefor, encourage our learners to play games at social times and have introduced a range of equipment. Learners apply to be playtime buddies to assist with coordinating a wide range of games and ensuring other learners are happy. Our learners stay calm and help other learners solve minor problems if they arise.
Our learners are very adverse with the difference between bullying and falling out. Learners will explain how bullying is:

              S everal T ime O n P urpose
              and that they should
              S tart T elling O ther P eople

The quality of this was recognised in a behaviour achievement award:

"Behaviour has improved since the new behaviour policy was introduced
and pupils are very positive about this. A large majority of pupils enjoy
school and pupils say they feel safe".
