Welcome to Longwood Nursery
At our Nursery, we provide a warm, nurturing, and inspiring environment where every child is valued as a unique individual and encouraged to thrive. Guided by the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework and informed by the principles of Birth to 5 Matters, we recognise that children learn best through play, exploration, and meaningful relationships.
Our skilled practitioners create engaging learning opportunities that support children's development across all seven areas of learning. Through a carefully planned curriculum, children build confidence, independence, communication skills, and a lifelong love of learning. We place a strong emphasis on developing language and vocabulary, promoting positive relationships, and fostering curiosity through rich, hands-on experiences.
Alongside child-initiated learning, children take part in daily adult-led phonics and mathematics sessions designed to develop early literacy and numeracy skills. These carefully structured activities help children build strong foundations in communication, language, reading, and mathematical understanding, ensuring they are well prepared for the expectations of Reception and the next stage of their learning journey.
We believe that every child deserves the best possible start in life. By working closely with families, we ensure that children's interests, strengths, and individual needs are at the heart of everything we do. Our inclusive approach enables all children to feel safe, respected, and motivated to achieve their full potential.
Through high-quality interactions, stimulating indoor and outdoor environments, and a focus on children's wellbeing, we support children to become resilient, capable, and confident learners who are Reception-ready and equipped with the skills they need to flourish both academically and socially.
